Hey family,
If I’m being real, stepping into 2025 hasn’t been easy. The Pasadena/Altadena fires have left so many of my loved ones displaced, grieving, and in recovery. It feels strange to act like everything is “business as usual” when so much has been lost. Being online feels type dystopian, but in the midst of all this, I’m reminded—again and again—why I do what I do.
But even in the midst of loss, our community continues to show up for each other in ways that remind me why I do what I do. 2025 wasted no time in reinforcing that.
And in that spirit, I’m grateful to have yet another opportunity to share space with y’all for a special afternoon of music, healing, and togetherness.
I’m honored to invite you to a special NYALLAH & Friends show on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with Living Earth at The Audubon Center at Debs Park. We’ll be singing under the trees, holding space for restoration + medicine, letting the land hold us as we hold each other. Joining me in this offering of sound and sanctuary are some of my favorite artists and dear friends: The Growth Eternal, Harriet Brown, Annabelle Freedman, James Barmore, Tee the Queen, and Anthony Calonico of Total Blue.
A percentage of the proceeds will go toward our dear friend and collaborator Qur'an Shaheed, whose immediate family was directly impacted by the fires. Community care is resistance, and we get each other free.
If you’re able, meet me underneath a Peruvian peppercorn tree. Let’s gather, heal, and hold each other close.
Love you all — hug you soon.
With love, Ny
